Men’s HCA January Honors Feature Stingy Netminders

As the college hockey schedule heated up in January, goaltenders rose to the occasion across the nation. Six of them get some mention among this month’s Hockey Commissioners Association honorees.


playerMen’s Forward of the Month: Jake Black, SR F, Bentley (Pomfret, CT)

Black helped Bentley to a 5-1-4 record in January, with a team-leading line of 9-8-17 in those 10 games. He had two GWGs and one hat trick for the Falcons.

playerMen’s Goalie of the Month: Michael Hrabal, JR G, Massachusetts (Prague, Czechia)

Among goalies who started more than three games, Hrabal led the NCAA in GAA (0.85), save percentage (.973) and shutouts (3). His only loss in a 7-1-0 month was a 1-0 loss to Boston University.

playerMen’s Defender of the Month: Jack Anderson, SR D, Michigan Tech (St. Louis, MO)

Anderson led all CCHA blueliners in goals (4), points (10), plus-minus (+12) and blocks (20) on the month, leading the Huskies to a 7-3-0 record.

playerMen’s Co-Rookies of the Month: Josh Fleming, FR G, Penn State (Montreal, PQ)

Fleming had numbers of 1.62 and .952, leading the Big Ten in January. He shutout Minnesota, 3-0, on January 9.

Jack Parsons, FR G, Providence (Ithaca, NY)

Parsons stepped into the lineup due to an injury and made a spectacular debut, going 7-0-0 against BC, BU and Maine, all schools nationally-ranked this season. His numbers: .931, 1.87, with two shutouts.
